Beach sand is just sandpaper without the paper

We love the southern New Jersey beaches, just as much as anyone. However, we know that sand is really sandpaper without the paper: it will rip off the finish of your floor faster than the blink of an eye. Consider making it a habit to remove shoes and flip flops at the door. Strolling through an outdoor craft show last summer, we saw a display for decorative boxes marked Flip Flop Parking. Such a neat idea! Not only is this a great "beachy" decorative accessory, appropriate for any shore home, but it will render a huge cost saving measure too, limiting the amount of times you need to call your floor guy.
